What’s new in Battle Grounds Ultimate compared to the original?

This version is built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, offering improved visuals, smoother gameplay, updated effects, and better performance. It includes all previously released characters and content, plus refinements to UI and online features.

Does this version include all DLC from the original game?

The nekomimi/rabbit ears skin for our main four girls and Frau/Kurisu character are all previous DLCs which have been included in this game.

Will there be future DLC?

Yes, we’re working on something really cool. Please keep an eye out for it!

Is this game connected to the main Phantom Breaker fighting game series?

It shares the universe and characters, but Battle Grounds is a side-scrolling beat ’em up with RPG elements. While the story ties into the larger lore, it’s accessible to newcomers and doesn’t require prior knowledge of the fighting games.

Is there a demo for the game?

There is no regular demo available for the game at the moment.

Are there any performance differences between platforms (PS5, Xbox, Switch, PC)?

Each platform has been optimized individually to provide the best possible experience. Naturally, higher-end hardware like PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC offer better performances, but we’ve worked hard to make sure all versions—including the Switch—play smoothly and feel great.

Will the game be Steam Deck / ROG Ally compatible?

While the game isn’t officially verified for Steam Deck yet, many players have reported solid performance. We’re looking into full support for handheld PCs like Steam Deck and ROG Ally, and we’ll share updates if anything changes.

Is there a collector’s edition or merch?

Will PBBGU be available on the Switch 2?

Right now, PBBGU is available for the original Nintendo Switch. We’re actively exploring what bringing the game to Switch 2 would involve, but we can’t confirm anything just yet.

What’s the situation with the physical editions?

Physical copies are available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S.
The Xbox physical release was slightly delayed and is now set to release mid June. We’re truly sorry for the wait, and we’re grateful for everyone’s patience.

Why is XBOX Physical version delayed?

The Xbox physical release took a bit longer due to differences in the certification and manufacturing timelines compared to other platforms. While we submitted the materials as soon as possible, the overall process on Xbox required more lead time than initially anticipated. Hence, they delay. Really appreciate your patience — it’s coming soon!

Any chance of more content or new characters?

Right now, we’re focused on polishing the current experience and fixing any launch issues. We’re listening closely to player feedback—so if there’s demand, we’ll absolutely explore post-launch content.

Can I play solo, or is this game mostly for co-op?

You can absolutely play solo! The game is fully playable alone, with scaling difficulty and balanced character progression. Co-op is a fun bonus — not a requirement.

Are the original Japanese voices included?

Yes! The game includes the original Japanese voice acting, and English text/localization. We wanted to stay true to the anime style and character vibe fans love.

Can I stream or create content with the game?

Are there any secrets or unlockables in-game?

You can unlock URA stages after clearing story mode once! These stages will have unlock conditions that will reveal a green eerie glow that will indicate the URA stage.
